Techne has presented several workshops and concerts at venues and community centers across the US. Some of our highlights are listed below.
Girls Rock West Coast Tour 2013
Suzanne & I embarked on a tour of the west coast for amazing collaborations with the Bay Area Girls Rock Camp in Oakland, the original Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls in Portland and the Rain City Rock Camp for Girls in Seattle. In addition, we ran a workshop in Sacramento at community arts center Sol Collective.

New York City, NY
In collaboration with Harvestworks and supported by New Music USA, TECHNE presented a workshop and concert with the Lower Eastside Girls Club and extraordinary organization founded in 1996 to address the historic lack of services available to girls and young women on the Lower East Side.

Houston, Texas
Camp, Houston, Project Row Houses. and the Sun Blossom Mountain community comprised largely of Karen immigrants. Evening concerts were presented at Avant Garden through Nameless Sound.
Through a collaboration with arts education organizations Labotanica and Nameless Sound, Techne held two workshops in Houston, Texas in 2010. Participants came from collaborations with several different organizations and community programs including Girls Rock
Newburgh, New York
Techne held a contact mic building workshop at the Newburgh Free School and a field recording and audio editing workshop at the Ann Street Gallery. The gallery is part of the Safe Harbors of the Hudson’s Cornerstone Residence which provides supportive and affordable housing in Newburgh, NY. In addition, Jones and Thorpe presented an evening concert for the community at Ann Street Gallery.
Baltimore, Maryland
As part of the Megapolis Festival, Jones & Thorpe held an Urban Soundwalk workshop that took participants on an auditory tour of Baltimore, Maryland where we listened in to the sounds of back alleys, restaurants, planes, train stations and more.
Washington, DC
Hosted by DC’s experimental music organization, Sonic Circuits, Techne led a contact microphone building workshop and presented an evening concert at the Pyramid Atlantic gallery.
Beacon, New York
Working with the Beacon Music Factory, a music school located in Beacon, NY, Techne held a workshop in contact mic building and improvised electronic music. Participants were 7th and 8th graders aged 13 – 14. The workshop included a short recital for the parents who joined us at the close of the day.
